From Loudoun Sheriff:

Loudoun County, VA:   Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office investigators and deputies participated in an enforcement surge by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), Virginia State Police, US Marshals and 10 local law enforcement agencies.  During a three-day operation that concluded Tuesday, ICE ERO officers located and arrested 130 criminal aliens with prior convictions for a variety of crimes, including rape, assault, burglary and narcotics possession and 8 fugitives and 3 re-entry cases.

The Sheriff’s Office provided manpower to teams that helped in the arrests.  Twenty of those taken into custody were found in Loudoun County.  All but three of those had been convicted of crimes, most of them felonies.  One had been convicted of weapons violations, but most of the prior convictions had been for non-violent crimes such as larceny, forgery and fraud.  Many had DUI and Hit & Run convictions.

“Our office has had a longstanding working relationship with ICE that has been a great help to our citizens.  This on-going effort underscores the importance of the partnership between ICE and local law enforcement in achieving our core mission, which is to enhance public safety, by removing criminal aliens from our communities,” stated Loudoun County Sheriff O. Simpson.
