Loudoun County, VA:  The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public’s help in identifying a man believed to have sexually assaulted a woman early last Friday morning. 

The incident began at approximately 2AM on Friday, March 18, 2011, when the victim was walking across the parking lot of O’Fallion’s restaurant at the Ashburn Plaza shopping center.  She asked the driver of a black late 1990s model Jeep to use his cell phone to call for a ride home.  After the victim voluntarily got in the Jeep, the suspect drove off and refused repeated requests to stop and let her go.  He then sexually assaulted the victim before releasing her.

Final Suspect Charged in Botched Home Invasion Robbery

Loudoun County, VA:  The final suspect has been charged in the botched home invasion robbery on E. Kennedy Rd., the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office has announced.    

Warrants were served yesterday (March 17th) on Scott Alexander Walker, 32, of Harper’s Ferry, WV.  Walker is charged with one count each of Attempted Robbery While Armed and Burglary with the Intent to Commit Robbery.  

Walker is believed to be one of three men who entered a residence at 1205 E. Kennedy Rd. in Sterling on February 10th and attempted to rob the occupants.  During an altercation, Walker was shot by a resident and fled the scene with an accomplice, arriving at a hospital shortly afterward.  Another accomplice was also shot at the scene and died of his injuries.    

Loudoun Indicts East Coast Rapist

Leesburg, Virginia –  A Loudoun County Grand Jury returned true bills on a three count indictment charging Aaron H. Thomas with Rape, Abduction with Intent to Defile, and Forcible Sodomy.  The three felonies carry a potential punishment of three life sentences.

It is anticipated that a Capias will issue from the Loudoun County Circuit Court this week for Thomas’ arrest which should ultimately secure his return to Virginia to face trial.  Thomas is currently in custody in Connecticut on charges stemming from a 2007 attack in New Haven.  Thomas has also been charged in Prince William County, Virginia with six felonies and likely faces charges in other area jurisdictions.

Loudoun Woman Charged in $50 Million Mortgage Fraud Scheme Extradited From Turkey

LEESBURG, VA – An Ashburn woman who fled the United States after being indicted in July 2009 for a mortgage fraud scheme has been extradited from Turkey, completing a years-long effort by the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office and the Virginia Office of the Attorney General to bring her to justice, the offices announced at a news conference this morning.   

Diane H. Frederick Atari, 43, is charged with fraudulently fixing her clients' credit and inflating their incomes on financial records to qualify them for homes they could not afford.  Atari is alleged to have personally netted in excess of $1 million from the scheme, with the total loss on the fraudulently obtained mortgages estimated at over $50 million.  She will be arraigned this afternoon at 1:30 PM in Loudoun County Circuit Court.
