Man accused of sexual battery of child at Va. in-home daycare

STERLING, Va. (WUSA9) -- A Sterling man is facing charges for aggravated sexual battery of a child at an in-home daycare back in June, Loudoun County Sheriff's Office said.

Michael D. Kessell, 21, is currently being held in Florida on a fugitive of justice warrant for two counts of aggravated sexual battery and taking indecent liberties with a juvenile, officials said.

It is still under investigation whether or not there are other victims.

The investigation shows that a child may have had inappropriate contact with a person inside of the home located at 1508 N. Amelia Street on June 1. That is the location where the child attends day care. The age and gender will not be released by authorities.

According to authorities, Kessell was not the primary caregiver but did watch over the children from time to time.

Kessell was apprehended at a home in Florida on September 29. He is still in Marion County in Florida pending extradition back to Virginia.

Anyone with any information regarding this case is asked to contact Detective J. Cichocki of the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office Juvenile Sex Crimes Unit at 703-777-0475.
